Traditional Backstrap Loom Weaving....

Traditional crafts are alive and well in many parts of Mexico.  This photo was taken in Zinacantan Chiapas. We'll be able to visit several indigenous artist's studios to see their process and their work.  Depending on group interests we can visit potters, weavers, paper makers, wood carvers, doll makers and more.

This appears to be a bundle of  tools hanging so simply and so cleverly from the rooftop.  Probably many are weaving tools but tools for other things too.  I noticed a few hollow stemmed pieces of wood.  The guide told me they were elder.

The loom in use. You can see her concentrating.
